Shrek the Third

I can't actually remember the last time I went to the cinema. What with the girls, the baby and the campaign to get into the Writers' Academy, what little time I seem to get for "viewing" gets invested in TV not cinema.

So taking Emma and Lorna to see Shrek the Third was a bit of a treat all round. And a bit of a disappointment. The girls loved it, of course. And, at a micro level it was great - some fantastic acting, writing, jokes, skits, characterisation etc etc.

But I was expecting more. At the macro level, it was pap. The whole thing was very clever, but totally insubstantial.

Unlike EastEnders, of course...
